I Am Tired and Weary

I am tired.

I am weary.

I feel overwhelmed.

It is that time of year for me when all the holidays start coming one after the other.  It is that time of year where my son Charlie’s work at school starts getting harder and in more abundance.  It is that time of year where I am longing for a break or rest.
Do you have those same thoughts and feelings?
Lately in my small group at church I have asked for prayer regarding needing rest from helping my son everyday practically for nearly 12 years.  I felt guilty for saying that out loud.  I felt like a bad mom that I would say I am tired of working daily on behaviors and skills with my son.  But I want to be honest.  I am tired.  I am weary.  I know the challenges we face are not nearly as hard as other families, but they are my personal challenges.
I have been the type of mom to go to all his therapy sessions early on, learn what they did and do it at home, in the car, or wherever I could.  I have been doing this for nearly 9 years.  We parents go the extra mile to work and help our children with all their special needs.  It can be really hard.

There is hope though!
The Lord promises in Isaiah 40:28-3 ~ Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  The Everlasting God, the Lord, the creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired.  His understanding is inscrutable.  He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power.  Though youths grow weary and tired and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.

What comfort to know that He will continue to give us strength when we are weary.

Are you weary and tired?  Come to Him with your heart and let Him know and He will give you strength.  He will give you rest and comfort.  He will give you power and might.  We as parents of kids with special and unique needs have exceptional strength.  We work every single day to help our kids be independent by working on skills and behaviors to help them be successful.  God will give you strength daily if you talk with Him and ask for His strength and power.  He wants to be there for you.  He wants to spend time with you daily and give you hope.

Blessings,
Patty Myers
